A little history about CostMine

In 1983, Otto Schumacher quit the US Bureau of Mines and sold his sailboat to finance a new business, Western Mine Engineering. Otto saw the need for a comprehensive reference guide for mining engineers and cost estimators that contained reliable costing data specific to the mining industry. Thus, Mining Cost Service was born. What started with 130 pages has now grown to over 800 pages and is used in 41 countries. In addition to Mining Cost Service, CostMine, the successor to Western Mine Engineering, produces other cost estimating publications, software, and labor reports for salaries, wages, and benefits that are sold worldwide.

Otto is a Director for CostMine and spends much of his time teaching cost estimating techniques for EduMine and giving papers.
